Who We Work With

Professional Resumes At Every Stage

Career Changers

Moving into a new field or function. We translate your experience into the language your target role expects.

Promotions and Internal Moves

Stepping up a level or moving to a new team internally, with a resume that makes the case on paper.

Changing Companies

Experienced professionals ready to leave for a stronger role, competing against people who job-search constantly.

Returning to Work

Back after a layoff or time away. We frame the gap honestly and keep the focus on what you bring.

Technical and Specialized Roles

Engineers, analysts, and specialists whose work is hard to skim. We make complex experience clear to recruiters and readable to the ATS.

Targeting Multiple Roles

Pursuing several different directions at once. A single generic resume weakens both, so we build a focused version for each target.

Our Process

A Process Built Around Your Goal

career evaluation

A one-on-one conversation about your background, your target roles, and where you want to go next.

Positioning Strategy

We decide how to position you for the role you want, based on how recruiters and hiring managers actually screen candidates.

Resume Development

Your writer drafts the resume around that positioning, using a clear What, How, Outcome structure for every role.

Review and Refinement

You review the draft after we run a second verification pass, checking every claim for accuracy, structure, and ATS fit.

LinkedIn Alignment

We optimize your LinkedIn so it matches the resume and a recruiter sees one consistent story. LinkedIn is part of the engagement; for everything else, see our full resume and career services.

Our Differentiator

A Recruiter's Eye On Every Resume

VMS writes professional resumes, and our team has worked inside recruiting and executive search. We have read resumes from the hiring side, so we know what gets a candidate screened in and what gets skipped. That changes which experience leads, how each role is framed, and what gets cut from the page

Most resumes are read by software before a person opens them. We format for the ATS and write for the recruiter who reads next, so your resume survives both. If you are a senior leader, see our executive resume writing services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our professional resume writing services

What makes your professional resume writers different?

Most resume firms write resumes. Our team writes resumes and has also worked inside recruiting and executive search. That means we know what hiring managers, recruiters, and ATS systems actually do with a resume once it lands, what makes them keep reading, and what gets a strong candidate cut for the wrong reason.

Yes. We build every resume to be ATS-friendly: clean formatting, standard section headings, and the keywords a system scans for, without stuffing. It reads cleanly for the software and for the recruiter who opens it next. An ATS resume no human enjoys reading does not help you, so we write for both.

It depends on your career level and how much work the resume needs. We price by engagement, not by a fixed template, and we confirm the cost before any work begins. Book a consultation and we will give you a clear quote for your situation, with no obligation.

A typical engagement runs about 2 weeks from your first consultation to the final resume, depending on your availability for the review step. Faster timelines are possible for time-sensitive opportunities. We’ll confirm timing during the consultation.

You can write your own, and some people do it well. A professional resume writer helps most when you are too close to your own experience to see what matters, when you are competing for a step up, or when you do not have time to do it right. The question is whether expert help changes the outcome enough to be worth it.

LinkedIn can be part of your engagement so your profile matches your resume and a recruiter sees one consistent story. We offer it as an add-on or as part of a fuller package. See our full resume and career services for everything we offer.

That is one of the most common reasons people come to us. We frame time away or a layoff honestly and keep the focus on what you bring to the next role. If you are working through a full transition, our outplacement and career transition services go further than the resume alone.

Yes. Career changes are one of the harder resume problems because your past titles do not match your target role. The positioning work we do early is where we translate your experience into language the new field recognizes, so a hiring manager sees the fit instead of the gap.

From One Stalled Search To Two Open Tracks

The Situation

Lauren M. came to VMS with a problem a lot of experienced professionals hit: she was qualified for 2 different kinds of roles and could not figure out how to pursue both. One path was leadership, a Director of Sales Operations seat. The other was high-end individual sales, an Enterprise Account Executive role. The 2 jobs reward very different things, and the resume she had been sending tried to do both at once. To a hiring manager on either side, she read as unfocused. She was applying steadily and hearing almost nothing back.

What We Did

The first conversation was diagnostic, not editorial. Before rewriting anything, we established that Lauren was not running 1 job search, she was running 2, and each one needed its own resume. Trying to serve both from a single document was the reason neither was working.

For the Sales Operations resume, we led with leadership: the teams she had built, the processes she owned, the systems and reporting she had put in place. Outcomes were framed around efficiency, scale, and the performance of the function she ran. For the Enterprise Account Executive resume, we led with the numbers a sales leader looks for first: quota attainment, revenue closed, deal size, and the named accounts she had won. Same 14 years of experience, 2 completely different stories, both entirely true. Every role on both resumes used a What, How, Outcome structure, so a reader could see not just what she did but what came of it.

Each version was built for the way its audience screens. The Sales Ops resume carried the language an operations leader and an ATS would scan for. The AE resume carried the language a sales hiring manager looks for. Both then went through our verification pass, where every claim, date, and number was checked against her real history before anything went out. Her LinkedIn profile was aligned to the Sales Operations direction, where she expected the most traction, so her public presence and her resume told one consistent story.

The Outcome

Lauren sent both resumes out the day she received them. Within a week she had interview requests, the first real responses she had seen in weeks of applying with her old resume. The 2-resume approach did what a single document could not: it let her compete as a serious candidate in 2 different markets at the same time, without watering down either case. She moved forward on both tracks and got to choose between directions rather than hope one worked out.

“I was getting nowhere with 1 resume trying to be everything. Two focused resumes changed that. I finally looked like the right person for the job instead of a maybe.”
